Lib Dem MP puts forward EDM in parliament for Rural Sparsity Bill to fund college travel for 16+ year olds

Tim Farron, our Lib Dem MP in Cumbria has proposed that a Rural Sparsity Bill is passed to enable families in rural areas the opportunity for funding college travel post 16.

Perins pupils get travel to school, but colleges are much further away

Tim is right- you can obtain help from your local authority if you are a low income family, but in my experience, exhorbitant travel costs of £40+ per week is entirely possible- and in some cases, there is just not the public transport to travel by!
So this bill, if passed would make a real difference to students whose parents live in rural areas.
