Asphalt plant at Micheldever Station has permission- but only for five years

by Jackie Porter on 17 March, 2016

At the second meeting of the HCC Regulatory committee this week, additional conditions were added to control Dust, and Traffic movements, and the temporary permission was granted for five years ‘to give comfort and reassurance to residents’ if the plant failed to comply with the strict environmental standards.

Reg. committee members saw the dust generated at the asphalt plant that we visited. The temporary permission is there to protect residents if they fail to comply with the stricter conditions imposed at the meeting.

Jackie would like to thank all those who have taken such an interest in this application, and especially the speakers who took their time to attend the meetings.

She says,” It was billed as a new plant on the existing site, which made it difficult for the councillors to turn down. I am pleased that the additional conditions and only temporary permission was given- but it’s a shame it was for five years, not one year as one member suggested.
But, it was worthwhile going on the site visit- it showed the committee councillors what it was like at first hand- something you would never glean from photos or descriptions.”
