Lovedon Lane : Good news as initial works starting 27th April 2023

by Jackie Porter on 17 April, 2023

We all complain bitterly about the potholes on Lovedon Lane .

Our continuous complaints have brought about action- thank you!

You will have seen the white lines on Lovedon Lane which appeared at the end of last week.

It was good to see the white lines painted on the road but I’m sure we all want the road repaired asap- and with the least disruption to you. This notice brings good news.

I’m glad to say that the first part of the work will be carried out on the 27th April. The patching means it will look like Nations Hill.

Unfortunately there is no commitment in this letter to a date or budget for the final full resurfacing of the road.

Residents who live along the road will have received a letter.

Work will be done overnight to avoid disruption to the Bus Services– but if your car is parked on the road- it may be MOVED! So please be aware that vehicles must be parked elsewhere for those nights.

If you have any queries, please use the contact details on the letter or contact me on jackie.porter@hants.gov.uk

The letter to me says this:-

Dear Councillor Porter,

As part of the annual programme of works being undertaken by Operation Resilience, we will shortly be undertaking carriageway surface repairs (Machine Patching) in localised areas along Lovedon Lane, from Springvale Road to Basingstoke Road.

This is in preparation for a proposed surface treatment, which if undertaken, will be carried out in a future programme at a later date. You will receive separate notification for this work.

The works are currently programmed to start on the Thursday 27th April 2023 and are expected to take 3 nights to complete. During this time the road will be closed to through traffic from approximately 20:00 to 06:00 hours. The road will be open outside of these hours.

For more information visit One.Network – https://one.network/?GB133675762

Information signs advising road users of the works will be erected before the start of works and the attached letter will be sent to local residents and businesses.

Whilst there is an allowance within the time periods shown above for delays, there may be times when we have to postpone works at very short notice; based on the latest weather forecasts, this can occur just prior to works commencing. We will always look to provide up to date information wherever we can, but sometimes these last minute decisions can be difficult to relay to the travelling public in a timely manner. When we can, any significant changes to the scheduled dates will be made clear on the yellow sign boards located at the works limits.

Should you have any queries or require further information please do not hesitate to contact me.

Kind regards,

Assistant Highway Manager – Planned Maintenance
