After a period of changeover, the Post Office leaves Dever Stores on the 23rd (Thursday) and starts at the Garage on Friday 24th.
You can tell me if you want a crossing, and where at www.surveymonkey.com/r/T2HF3LH
In the comments box, you might want to tell me about speed, buses and lorries etc as it affects you?
I am really sorry that the PO Counters’ conditions of operation have placed such difficult conditions on Dever Stores causing them to ask for it to move. Worthy Down is also closed- albeit temporarily, but no prospect of re-opening soon.
This feels like the end of local PO’s by stealth.
Even those PO’s that are open do not hold the useful forms; e.g.: Driving Licence and Passport- you have to collect them from major PO’s, go home with the form to complete, and return to the major PO for checking! What an expense-in time and money!
I asked a formal question about Winchester City Council support of shops with PO’s at the last city council meeting.
They say they offer Business Rate relief, but we need better pay and conditions from the Post Office Counters Ltd too if we are not to make life impossibly difficult for our small shops.
Good news! Dever Stores can use the space for other things now! Please continue to support your village shop!

the new post office is totally hopeless.you can never guarantee it will be open and very often it is not.if you need electric etc most times you cant get it.also the lottery with the garage is often not available..wish it have never moved.
Dear Richard
Thanks for letting me know. I have heard this from others too. Trying to get in touch with the PO management team to follow this up.
