Responding to the Prime Minister’s announcement this afternoon that she will publish an LGBT Action Plan in the summer, Liberal Democrat Education Spokesperson Layla Moran said:

“The Prime Minister says she wants the UK to be a world leader in LGBT+ rights, but this can’t be achieved unless she stands up to her DUP puppet masters and insists on changing the law to allow all couples in Northern Ireland to marry the person they love.

“The UK will only be taken seriously on LGBT+ rights when everyone, in all parts of the United Kingdom, no matter where they live or who they love, can get married.”

“Just this month Conservatives in Parliament disgracefully blocked our Bill to bring same-sex marriage to Northern Ireland. The Prime Minister’s commitment is welcome but her actions must match her words.”
