Recycling centres under the microscope- which ones will survive this year?

Recycling centres under the microscope- which ones will survive this year?

Here is the link to the web page address which will be live once the public consultation begins on Wednesday 16th March: www.hants.gov.uk/hwrc2016

The consultation is seeking residents’ views on how they think that the County Council could make savings in the cost of running Hampshire’s Household Waste Recycling Centres.

Options suggested by the Tory County bosses include:
* changes in opening hours – an hour less each day,
* weekend only opening, winter closures, and the
* full closure and decommissioning of sites

The consultation is open until midday on Wednesday 25th May, after which all responses will be carefully analysed.
This feedback will then be used, together with information on how the sites are used, the tonnage collected, the geographical proximity to other sites, and operating efficiency of each site, to form recommendations to the Executive Member for Economy, Transport and Environment.

PLEASE make your views known! Complete the consultation and let me know your views! Thank you jackie@jackieporter.co.uk

  1. Pippa Smith says:

I strongly feel that closure of sites would be a very wrong thing to do. There would be a great increase in fly tipping and that would cost the council and do untold damage to the environment.
There would be untenable pressure on other sites.
Only real alternative as far as I am concerned is to reduce the daily hours.
Charging for some rubbish may be necessary to assist the above.

  2. Richard Bone says:

Like central government, local councils waste money, savings could be found elsewhere, without effecting any important commodities like the tips. Have the MPs got involved, don,t hold your breath.
