It’s enough to send to you crazy!! My letter to Apple following my phone ‘upgrade’!

by Jackie Porter on 15 October, 2016

Why oh why do they mess with your phone?
It was working very well, then I accidentally pressed the upgrade button!!….

Dear Apple,

Phone upgrades bring problems for privacy- but unfortunately, Apple desn''t have a 'back' button!

Phone upgrades bring problems for privacy- but unfortunately, Apple desn”t have a ‘back’ button!

Thank you for telling me what I can do on the new operating system… now I'll tell you what I can’t do.

1. I liked to keep my privacy setting on for just a couple of minutes- suitably short to keep my correspondence as discreet as I can.
Now I need to make the time longer because the time it takes to actually open and unlock my phone is too long- so I need to keep it on a longer time out/privacy setting.

2. I receive a number of items of relatively personal information, and ask people to text, what’s app or email me-to which other people respond thinking my phone is private. Now they are on the front of my phone AHEAD of the lock screen. What is the point of a lock screen if there’s private correspondence or information ahead of it?

3. I don’t need SIRI etc but it comes up anyway.

4. Importantly- it doesn’t seem to sync the phone calendar with my Mac laptop anymore so I have to double check every single day and now I can’t rely on my phone as my calendar. I have reverted to a paper diary!

So- I didn’t need those things you have added- and I want to go back to the previous settings. How do I do that?
