by Jackie Porter on 14 May, 2015

Thanks to everyone who supported me, raised money for me, who helped and especially all of you who voted for me!
I couldn’t have done it without you.

Conservatives 30,425
Liberal Democrats 13,511
Labour Party 4,613
UKIP 4,122
The Green Party 2,645
Turnout 74.85%

Congratulations to Steve Brine, our MP for the next parliament and to all local Councillors who stood for the Liberal Democrats this time.

Many people have asked me this question, so here is the straight answer:-
I am still the County Councillor for the Itchen Valley
and look forward to continuing my work with everyone in the area (as usual!)

Many elderly couples are caring for each other- saving the state billions. A simple annual bonus could bring a real reward for their efforts.

It has been a wonderful experience to be involved in a national election campaign, and I hope it has inspired many people- young and old- to be involved in politics.

From it, I will continue to campaign for

* a fair deal for people with disabilities of all types, through genetics, chronic illness or accident.”No one left behind”
* better treatment for those with mental health issues
* a greener planet
* better housing options for young and old.
* an NHS that works for you
* ensuring adequate spending on education to protect learning and early intervention for children’s education
* support small businesses, including faster rural broadband for those areas not in the plan
* enough funding for voluntary organisations to do their job
* a better deal for carers
* achieve World Heritage status for Winchester
* opportunity by right, not by birthright.
* human rights are a right and a responsibility

And all this whilst not overspending our budget!
